My dear Wife,

Your kind letter bearing date January 17th is at hand. It surprised me. I was not looking for another letter from you so soon but I am happy to hear from you often. I feel satisfied as long as I can hear of you and Minnie and the rest of the friends being well. I am well.

You stated you would send me another pair of socks or anything I needed. I come to the conclusion [that] what clothing I need I will draw from the government. I am well off for clothes at the present time.

The weather is favorable here. It is not as cold here as it is in Pennsylvania. I have not suffered very much cold yet. We have plenty of rain here.

I will inform you that I subscribed for a Memorial of the Company. I received it yesterday and mailed it today. Let me know when you receive it. I want you to take good care of it. If you can get it framed, you may do so, I want a nice frame for it. Let it cost what it will. If you have not the money, let it lay over until I get paid off but there ‘s no prospect of being paid off before March. It will come good when it does come.

The chapel tent is finished. There was preaching held in it today for the first time.

I am thankful for the writing materials you sent me. No more for the present, but remain your husband, — Nelson Statler
